Addressing Markham-Thornhill's
most pressing concerns
Mimi Lee is deeply committed to the Markham-Thornhill community, understanding the unique challenges and celebrating its vibrant spirit. Over the last five years, our community has seen a significant increase in crime, impacting the sense of safety and well-being for families and businesses. Mimi Lee is here to listen and champion solutions that bring real change.

Tackling rising crime
The safety of our community is paramount. Incidents like theft, burglary, and vandalism have surged from 25,423 in 2019 to 32,472 in 2023, marking a 27.7% increase. More alarmingly, violent offenses, including assaults, homicides, and robberies, jumped by 63% from 8,837 incidents in 2019 to 14,410 in 2023.
Carjacking stands out with a staggering 400% rise, from just 13 cases in 2019 to 64 in 2024, often linked to organized crime. Mimi Lee is dedicated to working with local law enforcement and community leaders to reverse these trends and restore peace of mind.

Human Trafficking
It may sound distant to most of us, however victims of human trafficking are all around us.
In 2021, reported human trafficking in the York Region rose to 295 cases. The national cases are rising over the past five years. Sex trafficking is not an unfamiliar issue to the York Region Police, too.

Immigrants integration
Foreign experience not recognized by local corporations, making immigrants unable to contribute to society to the fullest.
Many of us are immigrants, and Markham-Thornhill consists of many visible minorities.
We aim for a revamp of the education credential assessment (ECA) system that span across, standardize and line up the IRCC, government, universities and employers.

Sustainable transit
Mimi Lee aimed for a swift transition to a carbon-neutral economy.
- Invest in a separate infrastructure for bike lanes
- Utilize sustainable (low-carbon) mass transit to improve traffic flow and reduce gridlock & fossil fuel
- Incentives for people to use electric vehicles
- Stop fossil fuel and oil industry subsidies
With these, we can achieve
- Less traffic jam
- A safer community - less traffic accidents
- Increase accessibility to seniors and disabled persons
Mimi Lee is committed to ensuring the voices of Markham-Thornhill are heard loud and clear in the House of Commons. Your involvement is crucial to building a stronger, safer, and more connected community. We invite you to connect with us, share your concerns, and volunteer your time to help us make a real difference. Together, we can achieve the change our community deserves.
